WORK / NANNYFY / 2018-2021

From zero to a funded marketplace,
as the company's CTO.

Nannyfy set out to let Spanish families book vetted, trusted nannies on demand. I joined before there was a single line of code, built the first version of the platform, and stayed three years as CTO — through funding rounds and a full pandemic pivot.

There was nothing to fix, because there was nothing.

The founders had a conviction — that finding a trustworthy nanny should not depend on luck — and no product. We started the way I still start today: a focused first build to turn the idea into something families could actually use.

We liked how we worked together. The first build became a second one, and I became the company's CTO.

A marketplace where trust was the product.

App and web, built around one promise: every nanny on the platform is vetted. Candidates went through a real selection process before they could offer a single hour of care, and families could see who was available and book with as little as one hour's notice.

Most of my hardest calls were product calls — what to cut, what to simplify, what had to be solid from day one — so a tiny team could ship something families trusted with their children. Along the way I helped hire and shape the company's first engineering team.

Traction, funding, and a team that could carry it.

During 2019 the company raised more than €1.1M across three rounds. By early 2020 the platform served 17,600+ families with 4,100+ vetted nannies across Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Málaga, Sevilla and the Balearic Islands.

Numbers like those are earned one booking at a time — a family only comes back when the product, and the person it sent, deserved the trust.

Rebuilt in a lockdown, without missing a beat.

In 2020, lockdowns made in-person childcare impossible overnight. We pivoted the platform to live online classes for kids — and daily services jumped from around 40-50 to 200 during the school closures. The pivot drew backing from Telefónica's Wayra and a partnership with Airbnb on online experiences.

In 2021, after three years, I handed my responsibilities to the team we had built — the transition my CTO engagements are designed to end with. Nannyfy was later folded into a merger, as startups often are. The journey — zero to funded, staffed and pivot-proof — is the part I sign.

My best technical decisions were product decisions.

A two-person engineering team cannot outbuild anyone. It can out-decide almost everyone — and at Nannyfy, that was the whole strategy.

I will help you understand what you actually need, whether that means a one-time product build or ongoing technical leadership.
